My top three goals for 2012

<img class="alignleft size-medium wp-image-533" title="top three goals 2012" src="http://www.yveslanot.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/goals-300x176.jpg" alt="top three goals"width="300" height="176" />

As most of you know I’m not a fan of setting New Years Resolutions because those tend to go away after a month or so. People don’t seem to achieve their resolutions so I choose to use my Goals for the year to set instead.

Goals are very important for your business and life for they help you move forward in what ever you are doing. Think of setting goals as your blueprint to getting WHATEVER you want in life. But merely setting a goal like “I want to make a million dollars this year” isn’t enough. You also need to have an actionable plan in place for you to achieve that goal and it needs to be realistic yet will stretch you. I’m not gonna go into detail what kind of goals you need to have set but think of S.M.A.R.T goals when you set goals.

To get a detail on how to set SMART goals check out my post on SMART goals

For 2012 I have my top ten goals but instead of being bogged down with so many different goals I decided I’m gonna focus in on my top three. I actually learned this from a book called “The compound effect” by Darren Hardy (highly recommended by the way). These top three goals are something that I want to achieve in my life and it’s not just for my business either.

So here are my top three goals for 2012

1. Top three goals # 1 – Weigh in at 200 pounds by 12/1/12.

A couple months ago I torn a calf muscle playing basketball and it’s kept me away from the gym from the last couple months. I’ve noticed the decrease in energy so I need to get back in the swing of things before my injury. Before the injury I would go to the gym at least 3 to 5 times a week not because I needed to but because I actually like going to the gym and I found fun in it. It also gave me tons of energy that helped me in my life and in my business. The time off I have gained a little weight so I need to get back into better shape plus I want to prove to myself that I can drop close to 200 and get in the best basketball shape I can get in since high school.

How am I going to achieve this goal:

Well to start things off I go to the gym 3 times a week to start in the first month and progressively start going to 5 times a week like I used to before the injury. Merely going to the gym daily isn’t going to get me there of course it’s only a third of the battle. My goal is to have 5 to 6 meals within a day to avoid having huge meals. By having smalls meals every couple hours I will insure that my metabolism is always firing full blast and I will avoid those binge eating huge meals. I also made a mini goal of running two marathons within the year. So training for that will help with the weight lose as well (first marathon I plan to run is in June and another one either October or December). Once my calf is fully healed and I have gone through rehab I plan on playing basketball again to add variety to my workouts at the gym.

2. Top three goals # 2 – I have a successful internet marketing business by 1/1/13.

Starting an online marketing career is no cake walk and if you are in a similar industry you know exactly what I mean. The internet changes daily, what used to work a couple months ago no longer works now. So in this industry you have to constantly improve yourself are you’ll be outta business before you know it.

When I say my goal is to have a successful IM biz I mean I am working this from home full time and no longer work a JOB. I find internet marketing a ton of fun. I love seeing how technology works. I love looking at the numbers to see improvement. I love doing research on some keywords and my competition to see how I can get to their level. With internet marketing almost everything you do is measurable. I’m definately doing this internet marketing thing not because of the money but because of how much fun it actually is to do. Now of course there are some things you have to do in your business that aren’t as fun but I still power through those task because I know they will help me in the long run and once I get a grasp of them I outsource it!

One of the things I’ve learning with Internet Marketing is learning how to scale things up to the point where you are no longer needed to be part of the process.

How am I going to achieve my second goal?

There’s so much to do in internet marketing that if I tried to learn everything I wouldn’t get anything done and I’d be left in information overload or overwhelm or what ever word you want to call it. I think this happens to every marketer out there. Heck I have to stop myself at times to buy software or reports (those dam sales copy are sometimes so convincing). One area I’m focusing on in my business is the content marketing side of things particularly blogging. Getting content out there is a great way to get recognized and also you can turn that content into other mediums to market out there. I set aside at least 30 minutes to an hour of related training daily to keep my mind fresh but at the same time I have to make sure I take time to IMPLEMENT as well. What good is the training if I’m not doing anything with it right?

The second half of this is going into the offline side of things, into the local marketing side. There are tons of small and medium business owners out there that don’t know how to market online and they need the help of us internet marketers. These business owners might be good at their selected craft but don’t know much about marketing so there’s a huge market for that. In offline marketing there is also so much you can help them with like website building, social media, seo, rep management etc.. I will focus more on the local seo side of things because some of these business owners know they need to get on google but go about it the wrong way and lose lots of money in the process.

3. Top three goals # 3 – Stick to my daily scheduling

I know I can achieve this goal in under a month but if I want to get anywhere near as successful as I can be I have to stay consistent at what I’m doing. I have to help myself accountable to do the daily task that seem boring at the time and might seem like they won’t make a difference. I have a daily list of things I have to do everyday before I do to bed and I have to stick to that list.

I also write out a list of my to dos for the next day and end it with a gratitude list before I go to bed. In the mornings I have a morning ritual that consist of a couple things off my list and creating content. I also prioritize my list for that day so I know what I need to work on first and what needs to be pushed back, delegated or totally trashed.

In order to keep myself accountable I use a weekly rhythm register from the compound effect by Darren Hardy (told it’s a good book). It a scoring system and the weekly goal it to be in the positive range weekly. What’s a weekly rhythm register? Check it out here weekly rhythm register

Now these are my top three goals for 2012 what are yours?

How to use SMART Goals for goal setting

<img class="alignleft size-full wp-image-541" title="smart goals" src="http://www.yveslanot.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/smart-goals.jpg" alt="smart goals"width="300" height="225" />

Most people know what smart goals are but I realized I haven’t broken it down here for my readers so I decided to write about it real quick for everyone so you have a reference. Not only that but it will help with some of my future post because I refer to smart goals all the time.

So lets get down to what SMART goals are.

1. S – Specific

The goal you set has to be specific. Saying something like I want to make money isn’t a great goal because you’re not giving your mind enough information to work with. It’s gotta be real specific like I make 2 k a month.

2. M – Measurable

You’re goal has to be measurable. You need something in place that can show you progress so when times are rough or you feel like you’re not getting anywhere you can see your measurable results.

3. A – Attainable

Plan out your steps so that the goals are attainable in your eyes. By laying out the steps in front of you a huge goal can be broken down into tiny goals to make them attainable.

4. R – Realistic

You can’t have a goal to make 1 million dollars in a year when you haven’t even make a dime in what ever you’re doing. Sure reach for the stars but make sure it’s a goal that reachable because if the goals unattainable the first chance you get through some difficulties you’ll end up quitting.

5. T – Time

Make sure to give your goal that you set a time frame. How many times have you heard someone someday I’m gonna be rich. Well if you run into that person and they’re probably still saying that but chances are they aren’t rich. Anytime I think of that it reminds me of a quote from Tony Robbins, “the road to SOME DAY leads to a town called NO where”. Put a deadline on your goals like you did when you had projects due at school. Remember when there was like a week left and you haven’t started the project and miraculously you still finished in time. Or if you were like me you had months to get a project done but you waited till the night before to start but still managed to get it done and get a good grade on it (Now that I’m much older I don’t go about my life in that manner anymore it was too much stress on me and others around me, don’t suggest it either).

These are a quick break down of what smart goals if you want specifics google them and you’ll find an abundance of articles written about them.

Learn how to generate quality mlm leads

Looking for a way to generate mlm quality leads? Are you online trying to figure out a way to bring in those prospects? So how do you go about getting prospects to take a look at what you have to offer? Well in short you need traffic and you need lots of it! There are hundreds of ways to generate traffic to your website but they are broken down in two categories. One category is paid traffic and the other category is free traffic. In this article I’m going to talk about the two different categories of traffic for your website and also provide some examples of that kind of traffic.

One of the ways to generate mlm quality leads online is something called paid traffic. Paid traffic is everywhere. I’m sure most of you are familiar with Google. They have one of the biggest paid traffic systems called google adwords. Facebook is also another heavy hitter coming out with their own version of pay per click. The major search engines have some sort of pay per click that you can use.

Other paid traffic out there can be something like solo ads or ezine advertising. With these types of advertising you are basically granted access to someone’s list and are able to send them an email or advertising. Keep in mind these can be highly targeted if you choose the right list to advertise on.

There is also things out there called pay per view where you pay for every thousand views unlike pay per click where you pay with each click. Each one has it’s own benefits and you really have to be constantly testing or else you’ll burn your wallet rather quickly.

You can use things called traffic exchanges where you send traffic to other websites and in return they do the same for you. There are websites where you go to website for a certain amount of time and you get credit and in return they can show your website to other people. Generally it’s kind of hard to generate leads from there because almost everyone is pitching something but you can generate leads. With these programs you can also build a downline of members that you can email much like a solo ad which is highly effective.

The great thing about paid traffic is it’s immediate and you can generate mlm quality leads rather quickly for your website or product. It very scalable in that if you want to advertise more you just put in more cash. The bad thing with paid traffic is your traffic is only available when your cash is available. Meaning when you run out of money or stop paying that traffic method your traffic also stops. It’s a good way to get in a niche if you want immediate quick traffic.

I can go more in depth with paid traffic in another article I just want you to get an introcution to it in case you didn’t know much about it. These are just some of the paid traffic methods out there and tomorrow I will be discussing the free ways to generate traffic to help you get mlm quality leads for your business.

Ten core commitments for internetwork marketing – Part 1 Go through the getting started game plan

Yesterday I showed you the ten core commitments for internetwork marketing. Today I will go in depth with core commitment number one; Go through the getting started game plan.

This is a very crucial step in any business venture that you take on. Simply ignoring this will be the difference in succeeding with it or failing. It is crucial that you know the exact steps you need to take in your what you are doing. Think of it like going to travel somewhere. You simply don’t just get in your car and start driving if you want to go to Vegas. You first have to figure out a route before driving so you don’t end up somewhere else.

Going through the getting started game plan give you the blueprint for success. If you have successful mentors that are showing you the game plan make sure you pay close attention because they are paving the way for you and helping you avoid the mistakes that they made through their journey.

Your game plan could also be where you set your goals and expectations for yourself. This is where you can plan out what you want to get out of this business and how you are going to get there. Simply writing you want to make more money isn’t enough. You have to write down HOW much you’d like to make, how you plan on achieving it and most important WHY you want to achieve that. Don’t forget to write everything for your game plan but also write down what your team members are telling you. Therefore you have notes for them when they are feeling down because business isn’t going to well you can always refer back to your notes about their game plan and give them a little added inspiration.

The other important thing about the game plan is that you are showing your new recruits how to start this business. How you are brought into the business is almost how you would recruit others. So if you want your team to duplicate make sure you take this step serious as a sponsor. Don’t just tell you new recruits to read this or that and do this period. Actually spend time with them when they are just getting started. Show them the correct way so they can duplicate it when they have new recruits in this business.

By insuring that you did this step correctly helps your team to be on the same page. You are basically giving your new people a running head start with a correct game plan.

A great game plan for internetwork marketing success consist of focusing on ONE marketing strategy paid or free. Start your new people with just one strategy until they get really good at it to the point where they have “graduated” from it then move them to another strategy. Don’t flood them with hundreds of strategies because you are more than likely overwhelming them. This is where the learn it, do it, show it strategy will work great.

This is just part one of ten of the ten core commitments for internetwork marketing success. Please come back as I break down each core commitment.

Many of you who are in the network marketing field know something called the ten core commitments made famous by Jeff Olsen who also authored a book called “The Slight Edge”. For those that don’t know what the ten core commitments are they are a series of ten disciplines that one needs to follow to insure their success in that business venture. Many network marketing companies use the ten core commitments for their distributors to follow because the ten things are both easy to do yet easy not to do, plus they are also very duplicatable to the newbie just coming in not knowing much about the industry.

Since we are in the network marketing business but use the internet I was thinking we internetwork marketers need our own ten core commitments to follow so we have a map on what we need to do in this business to succeed. Now this is just my opinion so you may not like MY ten core commitments but if you’ve got some improvements for it please comment and I’ll add to it if needed.

Here they are revised for internetwork marketing

1. Get through a getting started game plan.

- For example if you are in MLSP there is a little getting started game plan that you should go through to get a better understanding of what you need to do when you are just getting started.

2. Connect with at least 5 to 10 people a day.

- CONNECT with people on facebook, twitter, youtube, linkedin, etc.. But the key here is to actually connect with the individuals and not just add to add people.

3. Attend a weekly webinar for either your primary company or the free MLSP webinar training on Wednesdays.

- Each primary company has weekly webinars that you can attend daily. You can even go on the live wednesday mlsp webinars held at 9 pm eastern time.

4. Attend a member orientation

- Go through some sort of orientation so you get a better grasp of the product or service.

5. Send at least one long distance package to someone outside your local area each week.

- Even though we do this business online doesn’t mean who shouldn’t be using offline methods. A lot of primary companies out there have a dvd of some sort that you can send to people. If you are in the health and nutrition company you can even send out your product samples.

6. Attend your company Super Saturday & Regional Events.

- You gotta have belief in the company that you work with so you must stay close to the fire. By going to these events you’ll see the movers and shakers and continue to build belief in what you do.

7. Attend your companies super events or Attend Live the Dream or No excuses events.

- Going to these big events further creates that bigger belief in what you do. Going to Live the dream and no excuses helps you network and rub elbows with internetwork marketers very best.

8. Read 10 pages and listen to 30 minutes of audio daily

- Pretty easy to do but also easy not to do. Ten pages isn’t a lot but you have to stay consistent. I read first thing in the morning and before I go to bed. Listen to personal development for at least 30 minutes as well. I listen to it in my car on my commute to work and home. I also listen to personal development in my first 30 minutes of going to the gym.

9. Find an accountability partner

- Find someone that will hold you accountable for everything that you said you would do.

10. Be here a year from now.

- Stick around don’t quit because it didn’t work after 3, 6, 9 months.

Isn’t it amazing how we are now living in a world where internet plays a very significant role in our everyday lives? Where ever you go, there will always be evidence of the benefits the internet has provided us. And where ever you look, you will surely see a person hooked on his laptop and computer, surfing through the internet.

From socializing to learning, it is undeniable that the internet is such a useful tool. And, of course, business is not an exception with this, especially in the network marketing realm. More and more people are turning to the internet to work their mlm business.

Seems interesting, right? Now, you might be wondering how internet opens the endless possibilities for internetwork marketing. Read on and let me tell you how.

The internet can be accessed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 12 months a year. It simply means your website does not close, unlike an actual shop that only has a specific time when it is available to give service to their customers. Imagine that? Even late at night or in the wee hours of the morning, when you are resting and asleep, you can be assured that it’s up and running. There is only a little effort needed on your part because even while you are offline and doing other things, you are still able to build your network and promote your product in a fast and easy way. What does that imply? As great as it sounds, it can give you unlimited potential or possibilities for your network and profit to grow.

One of the key aspects to network marketing is approaching people and talk to them about your product or service, also known as the 3 foot rule. These used to be one of the old network marketing principles that said anyone who is within 3 feet of you is a potential prospect. It is now made easier with the use of the internet.

How? Well, it’s because people are still within 3 feet from you, only virtually. With this, you can easily and quickly reach them, also making it possible to generate hundreds of leads for you business daily. It is very different and efficient compared to the old 3 foot rule which seems awkward and daunting (for some people)– approaching random people personally and talk to them about your product. Thanks to internet, you’ll never have to worry about having that awkward moment. Approaching them is now just a click away!

Another great thing about internetwork marketing is that your audience is the whole world. Yes, the whole wide world. It is because anyone who has access to the internet has access to your website as well as the information about your product. Leads can come anytime from anywhere in the world. You can also interact with someone from the exact opposite side of the world and show them what your product or service is about, something that is obviously very impossible to do offline. Reaching people has never been this easy and inexpensive, thanks to the internet.

How to be Successful in Network Marketing

Network marketing is such a very popular venture nowadays. It has lots of potentials which can get you where you have always wanted to get to. It’s no wonder many people have try it but, unfortunately, not all of them succeed. Why is that you ask? Maybe because they missed out on the more important things that makes network marketing rewarding.

First and foremost, one should treat network marketing like a business and definitely not like a hobby which are two very different terms. A business is something you profit from and in order to accomplish it, you must keep in mind that the purpose of the business is to gain profit not spend it all. That’s what makes it different from a hobby because a hobby is something where you spend money for. In short if you want to earn real money treat it like a business if you want to spend money treat it like a hobby.

Also act and decide as if this endeavor of yours is like running a traditional brick and mortar shop. Be serious while you are at it and you will see how your network, as well as your earnings, will prosper.

But treating it as a business it not enough. You must also keep in mind that passion and dedication also contributes a lot in making network marketing successful. Sad to say but most people who jump into network marketing take it for granted. They tend to think it’ll be easy to make tons of money rather quickly and easily. Many don’t realize that in order to be successful you have to work harder than you’ve ever worked before to reach that. Of course some of this failure is not purely the fault of the prospect as there are times that a prospect who is brought into the business is promised quick wealth right away not realizing that you have to put your head down and WORK.

You must also believe strongly in the benefits or capabilities of what you are selling. If one can’t convince yourself about your product, how could you convince others, right? It would also be great if you will actually use the product. People will have a better belief in you if they knew you experience the benefits of the products yourself. Be confident with your product and it will surely show. Some network marketers out there simply just jump onto a company for the money and not use the product, I think you are essentially shooting yourself in the foot by doing that because you will never relate to your customers. Have belief in your product or service!

Network marketing can also be considered a trial and error process. A person involved must not stop from learning in order to make the profit grow even more. But it must not end solely in learning. You must also utilize the things you have learned. Once you have studied a particular strategy or area of network marketing, implement what you learned.

Make learning a habit, but also work smarter and not harder. Learn how to manage your time well. More benefits will be gained when you allot enough time for each of your tasks rather than cramming it into a specific time of a day. Make sure you finish your tasks on time and utilize your free time to learn new things – read books, browse the internet and find useful resources.

It is not impossible to succeed as a network marketer though it may seem tough at first. All you need to do is put some of these things in mind and you are surely on your way to finally succeeding in network marketing

Learn it, do it, show it?! Seems pretty easy right? Funny cause the majority don’t quite do it right. Many think that by just learning something you’ll automatically be good at it. They forgot the key step which is actually taking ACTION. Another equally important step is teaching or showing others how to do it. By doing these three easy steps will help you internalize a technique or anything you want to learn.

Let’s check on materials that we are commonly using to learn like books, magazines, internet, video, audio etc… We read them to compile our thoughts and compose an idea and be able to have an understanding and conclusion. Listening is another way to learn, if you want to learn from other people you must be interested to listen to their stories , you can get an idea of how they work things out. Listening can help you to be wiser because you are gaining knowledge and can follow instruction in all walks of life. Videos, visual learning is an effective tactic. You can retain information easily; you can remember how things are being done. This actually depends on you on what the best material is to learn with.

Something we need to also realize when learning and implementing is not all time is created equal for each one of us. There are certain times of the day that you’ll be more productive than another time. Me personally I’ve realized that I tend to be more productive writing wise later at night. Some of you may be more in the morning. Make sure you try different times of the day to find your perfect time to learn and implement. We must use our strategies to materialize our plans, our motives why we collected that information.

In this business there are lots of strategies but in my personal opinion these are simple and work great. Remember the key is applying what you just learned so they eventually turn into a skill. Your skills will definitely help you to put your plans on action. Our knowledge will follow to what we are creating in order to help us materialize the plan. Your learning will be very useful if you will be able to apply or materialize them. Just to see that you are on the right track. And if you have finished your plan, you can now be a master of it and you are now ready to show them to others.

Show what you learned, guide the ones who are interested in what you do. Give your learners the opportunity that you experienced. You can create a master piece by making yourself successful and helping others to achieve them as well. There is always a reward after all the hard work.

In a nutshell it’s really just a couple things you need to know. Just LEARN IT, DO IT, then SHOW IT!

Work from home in your mlm business the right way, what you need to do in order to succeed

So you join a work from home mlm business in hopes to earn lots of money and hopefully replace your job. You’re pumped and ready but then you realize this isn’t just any ordinary job. You find out there are things about working from home that you never learned about. In this article I am going to talk about some of the things that can help you succeed in this business known as MLM.
First you need to treat it like a business and not a hobby. If you treat your mlm business like a hobby it will cost you money but if you treat it like a business it pay out like one. Working an mlm business from home is being your own boss for your business, learn to treat it like one.
Your mlm business is not a traditional nine to five job, matter of fact it’s NOT a job, you don’t get paid an hourly wage. In your job you can get hourly wage, like for example, 10 dollars an hour. Now the first hour of your day you work real hard and accomplish a lot. How much did you make by working your butt off? Ten dollars right..
Now the next hour you decide to sneak into the back room and take a nap for an hour. You didn’t do much for that hour but what did your employer pay you? Wow another ten dollars for that hour. In a regular job that pays hourly you get the same constant rate whether or not you work hard or don’t do anything.
In an mlm business you are paid for what you do. It’s performance based. Meaning you can only work 2 hours today but managed to sell 800 dollars in those two hours. But on the other end of it you can also work 16 hours in that day and not make anything. When you first start out you might put in more time with little results, I know I did and many people get discouraged and quit. Yelling to their friends that this doesn’t work and its a scam.
I always like to think of starting a business like working out. I don’t expect to lose 10 pounds in a week because I worked out 56 hours that week. I know its a slow process in the beginning but will add up to exponential growth in the future. So it’s always best to start very part time with your business. Maybe work a very focused one to two hours each day on your business. Even though it’s only a few hours a day you’d be suprised how much all those FOCUSED hours will add up.
In your work from home mlm business you need to learn how to be your own boss. Meaning you must know what you need to do ahead of time. You don’t have a manager or boss telling you what you need to do so you need to learn how to manage your time effectively. Especially if you’re going to start very part time you need to make sure that each minute spent is helping your business. What I personally do is schedule my day in advance. I like to write down what I need to do for my business and schedule what part of the day I will work on that. The key is to stick to that plan and I use a timer. This kind of scheduling does take a lot of self discipline but keep at it and celebrate the small victories for yourself.
