How to master anything quickly?

Do you sometimes feel like you’re a slow learner?  Do you feel like after you’ve read a book that you still didn’t get much from it, or it just went from one end and out the other?  Are you getting those self help books but still aren’t getting anything out of it?  This was me years ago until I learned what I’m about to teach you on how to master basically anything quickly and easily.

The quickest way to answer how to master anything quickly is something called spaced repetition.  Spaced repetition is listening or doing something over a period of time until it is ingrained in your mind.  A perfect example of when you could use spaced repetition would be when you get a brand self help audio.  Normally you would listen to each track once, do the exercises then move on.  Maybe once of twice review your notes or listen to a track a couple more times.   But to get a lot more out of the audio program you would listen to each track a bunch of times in a short period of time.  You would then move on to the next track and do the same thing.

Think of it like when you hear a brand new hit song on the radio.  When you first hear it you don’t know the words but after a couple weeks of always hearing THAT same song on the radio over and over again you learn the words without even knowing it.  That’s spaced repetition working on you!  You don’t have to necessarily like it but since you’ve heard it so many times it gets ingrained in your head almost like a habit.

You can use spaced repetition with anything like audio, books, flash cards etc…  But audio is by far the most effective in my opinion.  With audio you don’t need alone time to do it.  You can listen to an audio anytime and even if you’re doing something, even something like SLEEP.   With a book you have to use alone time with it, you can’t read and vacuum at the same time but with audio you can.  Using audio you can listen in your car, at the gym anywhere you please.

Then you wonder how many times do I have to listen to something for it to get ingrained?  Well generally speaking listen to something 21 times over a span of 30 days will help.  It will eventually turn into a habit.  Or if it’s broken down into multiple tracks I would listen to a certain track at least 7 times before I move to the next track.

If you do this on anything you’re trying to learn I promise you, you will get A LOT more out of it.  You will learn a lot faster then going through something once or twice and expecting to take action with it right away.  I do this for everything I do now and it’s helped me master anything quickly.

Take out the trash!!

Take the trash out!

You read personal development books EVERYDAY.  You listen to personal development audios in the car on your way to work, in the gym, everywhere.  It would be safe to say you’re a personal development junkie.  You’ve read every single book that has to do with that field and listened to the audios as well.  You attend a few live seminars each year but something is missing.  Financially you’re not where you would like to be.  You still drive the same car, still live with your parents, and still don’t have a bank account to brag about to your friends.  But in your mind you’re personally developed so it’s bound to happen to you right.  You always think positive and you feel like it’ll be my turn soon enough.  Then one day you’re surfing the internet and the same people who you helped with personal development are now where they want to be financially yet your still stuck.

So does that sound like someone you know or most importantly is that YOU?  I development myself daily yet my situation is still the same, WHY AM I STILL IN THE SAME SITUATION, you ask yourself.  So why are you in a financial rut?

When I first started reading personal development books I was hooked, I couldn’t believe all this information that I was learning.  I was so excited because I was finally going to get rich in no time with all this new found knowledge that I had.  Years past by yet I was still in the same point financially before I started trying to develop myself.  Actually I was a little bit poorer because I kept buying every single book, audio or attend a live seminar.   All those things made me feel good about me and where I was headed but reality would kick right back in when I looked at my bank account and my living situation.

So I was looking for an answer.  Could personal development just be a scam and that all these so called gurus just made their money from people like myself because we kept buying their stuff.   There was a live event near my area so I decided I might as well check it out because it wasn’t too expensive and I told myself if I don’t get anything out of this then I’ll try in the towel on this stuff called personal development.  That seminar was the greatest I’ve ever went to because I learned ONE single thing that has changed my thinking and my business.  I had finally learned the number one secret that all leaders have and how I can achieve it as well if I just did this ONE thing.

THAT one thing was it’s not always what you learn that helps you but it’s what kind of trash you take out of your head.  You must remove the limiting beliefs you have in your head in order for the new beliefs that you’ve learned to actually work in your life.  These limiting beliefs are all not our faults.  Growing up as a kid your parents set some of these beliefs on you without even knowing it.  For example money was always an issue in my household.  My parents would always fight about money and my parents would always tell me that money is the root of all evil and that it can’t buy you happiness.  I’m sure you’ve heard all of those growing up as well.  Not only were these beliefs wrong they were getting ingrained in my brain to think the same way.  I was subconsciously thinking like my parents so I acted that way toward money.

You must train yourself to remove those old beliefs, take out the trash in your head.  Take notice in your old beliefs.   Write them down, tell yourself these beliefs were ok in your past life but you now want a better life.  Write down what you think of your old beliefs into your new beliefs.  Reward yourself daily with you new set of beliefs.  Remember change your beliefs to change your lifestyle.

New Years goals Revisited

New Years goals revisited 2010.  Morning everyone, 2009 is almost finished and we welcome a new decade 2010.  crazy how time goes by so fast.  Hard to believe that I’ve had this blog for over a year now.  It’s that time to set your new years goals for 2010.  I personally like to set about 10 goals and focus on one major goal that would make a big difference in my life this year.  But here’s some goal setting things that can help you for the new year and check out my post on resolutions vs goals as well.

Twitter Tip Tuesdays – Top 5 twitter tools

Happy Tuesday everyone,

For Twitter Tip Tuesdays I will give you the top 5 twitter tools that I use on a regular basis. So here they are in no particular order

1. Tweetlater (now known as socialoomph)- Basically lets you automate your tweets and lets you manage multiple twitter accounts.  There is a free version and a paid version.  I use it to post my automated tweets like quotes and things like that.

2. Tweetdeck – I use this for my iphone so when I’m not home I can check my twitter account on here.  The cool thing with tweetdeck is you can customize the platform to where you can have certain windows open or closed.  For example on my platform I have the regular timeline, my @mentions, my DM, and I have a couple searches that updated on there as well.  Tweetdeck is not just an iphone app you can also use it for your computer as well.

3. Twitter Karma – I use this to unfollow people who don’t follow me back.  Be careful with this as mass unfollowing people on twitter will get you suspended.  SO use this sparingly and use at your own risk.

4. Hummingbird - Another tool so to help you automate your twitter accounts.  THis is an actual app that you can use to help you with twitter.  Helps you get your twitter followers to big numbers.

5. Selective tweets – This is more like a facebook app but selective tweets lets you pick which one of your twitter tweets can show up on your facebook update.  Very helpful especially if you tweet a lot and your friends don’t want to see EVERYTHING you put on twitter.  I know personally that happened to me.  I had my twitter hooked up to my facebook and it showed every tweet and my friends got annoyed because of my interaction on twitter.  To find this go to facebook and look for selective tweets in one of the apps.

Well these are some of the tools I use on twitter to help me get my twitter following to 4k+ in the few months I have been using it.  But the key to using twitter is to INTERACT.  YOu need to build relationships with people you speak to on twitter.  YOu can have a following of one million but if you don’t INTERACT with them then it does you no good.

Thanks for checking out Twitter Tip Tuesdays I’ll have another Twitter Tip for you next tuesday!

Motivational Monday – life is a game of inches

Welcome back to another motivational monday to start off your week.  This video is from the movie any given sunday with the speech from Al Pacino in the locker room.  He talks about how life is a game of inches.  You have to be willing to fight for every single inch, every single advantage that you can take.  Like the slight edge the margin for error between winning and losing is so small so you MUST take every opportunity to the fullest.  So with everything you do despite it not making a difference at that moment, know that it will all add up over time.  Know that every inch stacked up together will take you to that goal.  For example if you’re goal was to lose weight and you are going to work out 5 times a week.  You may not see any weight loss in the first couple weeks but if you do it consistently inch by inch every single time you will see a big difference over time.  IF you stick to that discipline you will lose weight over someone so did stick to that discipline.

Anyway here is the video enjoy

Come back every Mondays for more motivational monday videos to start off your week

I wish I was still back in school!

Do you ever find yourself saying.. “Man! I wish I was still back in school! Or “ Man! I wish I was a kid again!” If you’re like me, I have said those same words many times in my adult life. At first, I used to say this because I missed the fun times during those years, then as I thought about it further, and the reason why I said those words is because I missed the optimistic person I was at the time. The feeling that after school I will be this, I will achieve this, I will have this! At a young age we already develop goals, dreams and ambitions, whether it may be being a fireman, an astronaut, the first female president, whatever it may be when we were young most of us are optimistic that we can achieve this.

But what happens when we get older, why do we suddenly feel that we cant achieve our goals? Why do we suddenly feel we can’t achieve success? As I was researching for my post today, a writer says we are pre conditioned as we get older to believe we cannot achieve our dreams. I don’t believe that. How I see it, there are situations that happen in our lives that sway us, from that optimism that we once had as a youth, and once this has happened we go to suddenly are on a different path and we give up on our dreams, ambitions, goals in life.

Brian Tracy says “ It doesn’t matter where you are coming from. All that matters is where you are going.”

It really doesn’t matter where you’re coming from. You may not be where you thought you would be in life, what does matter is that you are doing something to get yourself to where you want to be again. Personal development and self improvement is key to removing those negative mental, and negative emotional aspects that have built up within you. If you can just take away one negative aspect you’re on the right track, but if you can continually block or take away negative aspects in your life you are directing yourself back on the track you once were on. This is not an easy task and may be a long journey. “ Trust me! I am still on my journey.” As long as you have that WANT deep inside yourself to change your current situation, and you have a good reason WHY you want to change your situation, then you’re on the right track.

I am not a Personal development guru, far from it. I am like you, still on that journey, and if you’re not on that journey back to your goals, dreams, and ambitions, Join me! Lets do this together, and not say “Man I wish I was back in school!” But lets say “Man, I love where I’m at right now and it can only get better!”

How to visualize correctly

How to visualize correctly

What ever the mind can conceive it can Achieve.  Those were the great words of Napolean Hill from his great book think and grow rich.   But what truly does that mean?  So you’re saying if I think it I can have it.  Did I read that correctly?  Well to sum it up yes you can.  Then another question rises, how do I visualize correctly?  What do I exactly need to know to get everything that I want by visualizing?  Well in this article I am going to tell you exactly what I do personally to visualize the right way and attract everything that I want in my live.

Here are the 5 things you need to do in order to use visualization correctly.

1.          Make sure you have a vision board made for yourself.

-          This is key to visualization.  Make a vision board of ALL the things that you want in life.  What kind of cars, homes, money, islands, computers, anything that you want in life get a picture of it and put it on your vision board.

-          Making a vision board is pretty fun.  You collect pictures of things that you want and the exercise of making the board is also helping you visualize what you want in life.

2.          Look at your vision board daily.

-          I usually look at my vision board first thing in the morning and before I go to bed.

-          Spent at least 10 to 15 minutes looking at all everything on it.  The good part about it is by looking at your board it should put you in a peak state of happiness.

3.          Visualize as if you are there.

-          I learned this from Robert Allen.  He said one of the things he would do when he visualized is not just use sight in visualizing.  He would use all his senses while visualizing.  He talked about getting inside your dream home and hearing the sound of your music playing.  Smell what your own personal cook is cooking your in kitchen.  And when you are inside the house feel the walls, the sofa.

-          Use all of your senses as if you are already there.  If it’s a car you want feel the leather on your butt.  Smell that new leather and hear that engine roar when you rev it.

4.         Practice daily affirmations

-          Use affirmations daily.  Once in the morning and once at night.  An example would be I am a millionaire.  Speak your affirmations as if you already achieved them.  If you want a list of daily affirmations make sure you check out my other articles.

5.          No matter what keep your eye on the prize.

-          You will get people who will make fun of you for doing this daily but don’t let that kick you off your path.

-          Always focus on the activity of doing these visualization techniques on a daily basis and I guarantee you the result will eventually come into your life.
